Privacy Policy
Inbox by label
This policy describes how the Inbox by label Chrome extension accesses, uses, stores, and shares information. The extension displays inbox-only Gmail label views with unread and total counts.
Information accessed
With your authorization, the extension accesses your Google account email address, Gmail label names and IDs, and message and conversation IDs for mail matching inbox, label, and unread filters. It uses these IDs to calculate counts.
The requested Gmail metadata permission permits access to labels and message headers, but this extension does not request message headers or bodies. Its Gmail API access cannot send, delete, archive, mark as read, or otherwise modify your mail.
On the Gmail page, the extension reads the visible account control to confirm the active account and locates the navigation area to display its sidebar. It does not inspect email bodies. Clicking a label opens a search in Gmail.
Use and storage
Information is used only to provide the extension's label views, counts, account matching, and settings. Account email, label metadata, aggregate counts, preferences, refresh timestamps, and connection error messages may be stored locally in Chrome.
Message and conversation IDs are processed temporarily while counting and are not saved to persistent storage. Authentication tokens are managed through Chrome's identity API.
Sharing and third parties
API requests are sent directly to Google over HTTPS. The extension has no publisher-operated backend and does not transmit mailbox data to the publisher. It does not sell user data, serve advertisements, include analytics or telemetry, or use Google user data to train AI models. It does not send data to Grok or other AI services.
If you contact support, you choose what information to provide through that communication service. Public issue reports may be visible to everyone. Do not include private email content or credentials in public reports.
Retention and deletion
Cached counts are replaced after successful refreshes. Locally saved settings and cached information remain until replaced or cleared.
- Select Disconnect locally in extension settings to clear the extension's local storage and its cached Google tokens.
- To revoke Google authorization, remove Inbox by label from your Google Account connections.
- Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension data.
Disconnecting or uninstalling does not delete or change your emails or Gmail labels.
Google API Limited Use
Inbox by label's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes to this policy
Policy updates will be published on this page with a revised effective date. If data practices change, disclosures will be updated and any required notice and consent will be provided before the new use begins.
